GRIPEN AND SWITZERLAND

THE IDEAL PARTNERSHIP

The Swiss decision to select Gripen is logical and sound. In addition to the most advanced fighter system in operation today, the offer from Saab includes an Industrial Participation programme amounting to at least 100 percent of the contract value.

Switzerland and Sweden have a lot in common. Equal in size by population, strategically located, non-aligned and with a century-long tradition of innovation and cutting edge technology.

Saab is committed to developing new and long-term opportunities and creating investments, delivering technology transfer, generating R&D programmes and securing and creating new employment opportunities throughout Switzerland. All in order to support national independence and generate sustainable export growth.

Saab and the Swiss Industrial Participation Programme

Saab have a long history of successful industrial co-operation. Furthermore, the Swiss and Swedish perceptions of industrial efficiency and quality are very similar.

As part of the Gripen proposal to Switzerland, Saab is committed to providing a Swiss Industrial Participation (SIP) programme that is both extensive and far-reaching. Saab has over the past four years met with hundreds of potential Swiss partners, companies and key persons to jointly identify potential projects for industrial co-operation and offset.

Facts about the Saab SIP programme

In accordance with the armasuisse tender requirements, Saab will deliver a SIP programme valued at a minimum of 100 percent of the contract value

The Saab SIP shall support the regional distribution of Industrial Participation business that is built on strong commercial foundations.

Switzerland will be able to enhance and develop Swiss industry through its Gripen investment.

The SIP will ensure long-term sustainable and commercially viable business growth by developing close co-operation and partnerships.

The business will continue to develop long after the fulfillment of the Industrial Participation.

Solid experiences ensure the success of the SIP programme

Thinking global and acting local is key to Saab’s success in the international market. Saab established itself locally in Thun in 2007 with the formation of Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland Ltd. Saab also has a 50 percent ownership stake in SN Technologies in Geneva.

Saab is building on its strengths as a market leader and on its solid experience in Switzerland to design and deliver a SIP programme that is world-class. Saab’s experience and track record in delivering successful Industrial Participation in Switzerland is also gained from the Combat Vehicle (CV90) programme.

Having already met with hundreds of companies throughout Switzerland, Saab is confident that through sound business principles, strong partnerships will be developed to ensure the success of the SIP.

The industrial participation programme will be shaped and dimensioned in a thorough and fully bi-lateral process. These negotiations are intended to optimise the programme and ensure mutual benefits for all parties. The SIP will be built on solid financial and technical grounds, as this will create partnerships and deliver benefits that stretch beyond borders for years to come.
