ELECTROMECHANICAL HIGH LIFT SYSTEM

POWER BY WIRE

The Electromechanical High Lift System belongs to the new More Electric Aircraft era, breaking new ground.

Saab's EMA High-Lift Systems provide reduced flight hour costs to civil aviation through lower aircraft weight, in-flight aerodynamic optimization and reduced maintenance.

Saab provides two different EMA-based High Lift architectures:

  1. State-of-the-art system with centrally driven mechanical transmission shaft for slats and flaps. Slat/flap transmission shafts each driven by a fully electronic Power Control Unit (ePCU).
  2. Distributed Electrical Flap Drive System enabling individual positioning of each flap. It is made possible through a robust and compact EMA solution locally integrated at each flap panel - a wires-all-the-way-to-the-flap solution.
